ARTIST'S NOTE:
This is a piece that started to just unfold in front of me. Then I stopped, because the stage I was at puzzled me - I didn't know what the image was about.
A lyric came to me from a favourite Pink Floyd track - High Hopes
'Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun.'
It was the second line that struck me. My image was about the fragile, sacred, mysterious systems that hold our extraordinary planet in a delicate complex balance. And the divine female hand, perhaps, that sits at its centre.
Sometimes words help me understand the art that I am just following. I often feel more like a passenger then a driver in my creative process.
