You Take My Breath Away

ARTIST'S NOTE:

The opening piano notes of the song 'You Take My Breath Away,' written by Freddie Mercury, always invoke a particular set of dreamlike images for me.

I imagine myself climbing the old stone staircase of an ancient gothic tower, following the sound of those notes coming from a chamber high above me.

I enter the chamber, and see a mysterious gothic woman at a piano. The room is icy. The sight of her and the notes from the piano cast an intoxicating dark spell. Is she seductress, lover or vampire waiting to devour her prey?

It is an encounter with beauty at the edge of terror.
